The Final Countdown

Right now some of you may be hearing the song “The Final Countdown” by Europe in your head, and, sadly, this is my last and final blog for this English project. But before I say goodbye to those of you who read my blog I would like to finally finish describing this park to you people. To me this park is a lot like a second home, a home with less drama, more grass, and little kids trying to impress their parents, grandparents, or siblings. Those of us with sibling know how that when one sibling does something to impress their parents or grandparents it will eventually lead to more showing off and occasionally an injury. The specific type of tree that grows there is commonly called a Quaking Aspen or trembling Aspen. It’s Genus and Species is Populus tremuloides.  It populates most of the western hemisphere and is native to Canada, Alaska, France, the lower forty-eight states of the United States. It has a perennial growing habit.  Following is a picture of the Quaking Aspen and another one showing where the tree grows:

Finally, I would like to thank all of the people who have actually read my blog over the past school year so. I have had a wonderful time watching the Scooter Squad and their many adventures and in the future i hope you too can see the Scooter Squad and their somewhat glory.

The Scooter Crew Gang Squad Thing

These past couple days while I have been observing the Scooter Squad I have noticed that they are a lot like a small gang. One might ask why I call them a small gang, I do call them a small gang because they all have their own secret handshake and they wear the same color, black. It could be me just being superstitious but I highly think they are like a small gang. Another thing that I noticed was that they have started to use some foreign language when they are there at the park. Why they have started this foreign language confuses me, some possible answers to this question are that they noticed me observing them, or they are actually doing something to benefit their education, however the real answer still eludes me.
They were not at the park for a couple days this week, to put it lightly it has started to get very cold and the tree’s leaves are starting to fall to the ground in increasing numbers as they prepare for the cold winter and snow that will soon come in the mere future.  A lot of the trees at the park are Aspen trees according to “Garden Guides”.  Aspens range from 40 to 50 feet in height and spread like rabbits having babies.

The Brains Behind the Group

It still surprises me everyday when I think to myself, oh dear lord these kids are my age. I call them "these kids"(10-28-14 fieldnotes) because they act middle schoolers and talk like middle schoolers, and we all know how bad and strange some of those conversations can get, I don't dare talk to them out of fear of being sucked into a conversation I have not interest in talk about. These kids however are in high school and from the information I can gather they go to either Bishop Manogue High School or Galena High School. They do see me even in my best effort to be unseen, they have discovered that I go to Wooster High School and that I take an IB class and also take JROTC, which later lead to endless remarks about how I am both a nerd and a nark.

To me some of these kids are the exemplification of what is wrong with the public school system today. However, one of the kids in the group, who I believe is their charismatic leader of sorts, is actually rather intelligent. I have given him the nickname of "brains".

Serenity at Last

This week when I went to the park I noticed one major difference from the other weeks I have visited the park, the Scooter Squad was not there. The park overall felt different, it felt more repose than it normally did. The only things there were the usual dogs and the occasional little kid that would run after one of those dogs till the child got tired and would go to his or her mom and want to go home. Being able to move freely and not dodge kids on skateboards was a extraordinary feeling, in a cliche way, the sun shined brighter this week.

A question I asked myself most of this week was, why was the Scooter Squad not there? The conclusion I drew up was that maybe they got grounded or something along the lines of that.

Annoyance

The Scooter Squad was back once again today and they couldn't be more annoying. One day when they were here they brought a "ramp". However it looked like a couple of wooden boards screwed together, I made some personall bets with my self just to see how long it could possibly last without breaking apart. After about 30 minutes it broken utterly and completely. The color of the leaves of the trees in the park have slowly started to change from a bright green to various shades of yellow and orange.

The Scooter Squad

One day as I was observing at this park I saw a group of kids that I have not seen in a very long time. For these kids sake I'm going to call them the Scooter Squad, their are a total of four to five depending on the day. However, these kids are about my age and they don't ride scooters as they once did, they ride skate boards now, but personally I think Scooter Squad sounds more catchy than Skater Squad. Moving away from the Scooter Squad, the park the past couple days has been very nice. A dog was there and it just sat there and stared at me while I was taking my field notes. Fall is about to start so I believe that the colors of the leaves of the trees will become various shades of red, orange, and yellow.
